Road Trip Time Calculator with Stops

Estimate driving time plus planned breaks and other delays. Enter distance, average speed and stops to build a realistic road-trip schedule.

Published · Updated

Use matching distance and speed units. Average speed is an estimate, not a suggested driving speed. Break timing is your input, not a safety recommendation.

Driving time plus time outside the car

Divide route distance by average moving speed, then add your planned breaks and extra stop time. At 300 km and an average of 75 km/h, driving takes four hours. A 20-minute break after two hours, plus 30 minutes for another stop, makes four hours and 50 minutes overall.

We do not add a break exactly at arrival. A six-hour drive with a break every two hours has two scheduled breaks, at hours two and four. Add meals, sightseeing and other stops in the extra-time field.

Use it as a planning estimate

This is not navigation or a live traffic service. Check a mapping service for the actual route and conditions, and allow more time when needed. Take additional breaks whenever you need them. Arrival is shown in your browser’s timezone and does not automatically convert to the destination’s local time.

Build your road-trip packing list, estimate fuel costs, or check the days until departure.

Common questions

Does this use current traffic?
No. You supply distance, average moving speed and delay estimates. Use navigation for current routing and traffic.
Is the arrival time in the destination timezone?
No. It is in the timezone reported by your browser. Adjust separately when your route crosses timezones.
